VisitTrump Nominates Fox Host Sean Duffy to Replace Buttigieg as Transportation Secretary
Nov 19, 2024, 01:10 AM
Former U.S. Congressman Sean Duffy has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as the next Secretary of Transportation, replacing Pete Buttigieg. Duffy, who represented Wisconsin in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2019, was a member of the Financial Services Committee and chaired the subcommittee on insurance and housing. He is also a former Fox Business host and reality TV personality, having appeared on MTV's "The Real World: Boston." Duffy has vowed to eliminate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives for pilots and air traffic controllers. The nomination has been met with praise from several politicians and commentators, including fellow Republicans who highlight his experience and leadership. Duffy has been critical of Buttigieg's tenure and is noted to lack prior transportation experience. He is married to Rachel Campos-Duffy and is a father of nine children. Fox News confirmed that Duffy is departing the network effective immediately.
