President-elect Donald Trump has announced the appointment of Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic Congresswoman, Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, and honorary co-chair of Trump's transition team, as the next Director of National Intelligence (DNI). Gabbard, who previously served as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district and was a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, has recently become a Republican, with Trump referring to her as 'now a proud Republican'. She has been selected to oversee and coordinate the nation's intelligence agencies. In a statement, Trump said, 'I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman, Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabbard, will serve as Director of National Intelligence.'
