President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Scott Turner, a former NFL player who played nine seasons with the Redskins, Chargers, and Broncos, to be the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Turner, a Texas native and pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church, previously served in the Texas state legislature and was a leader of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council during Trump's first term. As Chair of the Center for Education Opportunity, he played a key role in driving over $50 billion in investments through Opportunity Zones, transforming communities throughout America. Turner brings experience from his athletic career, pastoral leadership, and prior governmental roles to the position and is expected to lead revitalization efforts in communities across the country.
