Trump Ends Taxpayer-Funded Security for Fauci and Bolton, Says They Can Hire Their Own
Jan 24, 2025, 04:55 PM
President Donald Trump has terminated the taxpayer-funded security details of Dr. Anthony Fauci and former National Security Advisor John Bolton, which were provided and paid for by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The decision follows a request by Senator Rand Paul to revoke Fauci's security detail. Fauci's security was previously provided by federal marshals and later by a private contractor funded by the government. He has since hired his own private security at his own expense. When asked about the termination and whether he would feel responsible if something were to happen to Fauci or Bolton, Trump responded, 'They all made a lot of money. They can hire their own security.' He added, 'When you work for government, at some point your security detail comes off and, you know, you can't have them forever.'
