Trump Discusses $600 Billion Investment with Saudi Crown Prince, Considers Saudi Visit
Jan 22, 2025, 11:10 PM
President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, marking his first known discussion with a foreign leader since his inauguration. The Crown Prince congratulated Trump on his assumption of office and expressed Saudi Arabia's intention to increase investments and trade with the United States by at least $600 billion over the next four years. The two leaders discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation to promote peace and stability in the Middle East and to combat terrorism. Previously, Trump had suggested he would consider making Saudi Arabia his first foreign visit again if the kingdom agreed to significant purchases of American goods, totaling $450 to $500 billion, adjusted for inflation, stating, "We'd raise it for all the inflation. I think I probably would go there."
