The U.S. government, under President Donald Trump, is deploying additional troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to enhance security and support law enforcement agencies. The Army has been instructed to prepare for the deployment of 5,000 soldiers, with plans to increase the number to over 10,000. This follows an initial deployment of 1,500 active-duty troops. The troops are set to assist in various capacities, including installing razor wire and supporting Customs and Border Protection efforts. The deployment is part of Trump's broader strategy to address illegal immigration, which he has declared a national emergency. In Texas, Governor Greg Abbott has also mobilized the Texas Tactical Border Force, sending over 400 additional soldiers, C-130s, and Chinook helicopters to the Rio Grande Valley to work alongside U.S. Border Patrol agents. This move is in coordination with the Trump administration's efforts to secure the border.
