VisitTrump Arrives in D.C. for Second Inauguration Moved Indoors Amid Extreme Cold
Jan 18, 2025, 10:26 PM
President-elect Donald Trump arrived in Washington D.C. on Saturday ahead of his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, scheduled for Monday, January 20. Trump, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump and their son Barron, flew on a U.S. Air Force plane designated 'SAM47,' provided by outgoing President Joe Biden in adherence to traditional transition protocols. Upon arrival, they attended a reception and fireworks display at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, featuring a performance of 'God Bless America,' marking the start of the inaugural festivities. Due to forecasts of sub-freezing temperatures potentially dropping to 10 degrees below zero and winter storm warnings across several states, including D.C., the inauguration events are being adjusted. The National Weather Service has issued warnings and advisories, predicting some of the coldest temperatures in years on Inauguration Day. Consequently, the swearing-in ceremony will be moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda for security and weather considerations. Trump’s return to power marks his second nonconsecutive term, a historic moment in U.S. politics.
