VisitTrump Appoints Lee Zeldin as EPA Chief to Restore US Energy Dominance
Nov 11, 2024, 08:35 PM
President-elect Donald Trump has selected former New York Congressman Lee Zeldin to serve as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Zeldin, 44, served four terms representing Long Island before losing the 2022 New York gubernatorial election. He confirmed that he was asked and accepted the offer. An early Trump supporter, Zeldin voted to block the certification of the 2020 election. Upon accepting the role, Zeldin stated, "It is an honor to join President Trump’s Cabinet as EPA Administrator. We will restore US energy dominance, revitalize our auto industry to bring back American jobs, and make the US the global leader of AI. We will do so while protecting access to clean air and water." He emphasized plans to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse within the EPA and to roll back regulations affecting businesses.
