According to the Washington Post, this was their first phone conversation since Trump's election victory. Trump expressed interest in peace on the European continent and urged Putin to move towards negotiations and a quick end to the conflict. He also reminded Putin of America's sizable military presence. The Kremlin has not yet confirmed the conversation. Earlier, Trump had a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, affirming his support for Kyiv.
