VisitTropicana Las Vegas to be Demolished at 2:30 a.m. in $1.2M, 2,100-Pound Implosion
Oct 8, 2024, 06:27 PM
The iconic Tropicana Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip is set to be demolished early Wednesday morning, marking the end of its 67-year history. The implosion, scheduled for 2:30 a.m. on October 9, will involve approximately 2,100 pounds of explosives and cost around $1.2 million. Road closures will be in effect around the demolition site to ensure public safety, with boundaries extending from Mandalay Bay Road to Park Avenue and Koval Lane to Frank Sinatra Drive. The event will feature a spectacular display of drones, Pyrodrones, and fireworks, and a 'Trop Dust' advisory has been issued due to the expected dust cloud. The Tropicana, once known as 'the Tiffany of the Strip,' will make way for a new Major League Baseball stadium. A piece of its storied past will continue to shine at the Neon Museum in downtown Las Vegas. The implosion will be live-streamed at 2:00am PDT.
