VisitTravis Hunter Wins 2024 Heisman Trophy; First to Win Offensive and Defensive Awards
Dec 15, 2024, 01:55 AM
Colorado's Travis Hunter has been awarded the 2024 Heisman Trophy, becoming the second two-way player to win the award after Charles Woodson and the second in Colorado's history since Rashaan Salaam in 1994. Hunter, a junior who excels at both wide receiver and cornerback, had an exceptional season. He led the nation with 14 receiving touchdowns, ranked top-6 with 92 receptions and 1,152 receiving yards, and defensively allowed a passer rating of 42.0 while recording four interceptions. Earlier, he won the Bednarik Award for Defensive Player of the Year, the Biletnikoff Award as the nation's top receiver, and the Walter Camp Award as the national player of the year, making him the first college football player to win national awards for both offense and defense in the same season. The Heisman race was the closest since 2009, with Hunter emerging ahead of other finalists Ashton Jeanty from Boise State, Dillon Gabriel from Oregon, and Cam Ward from Miami. His outstanding two-way performance has solidified his legacy as one of the greatest players in college football history.
