VisitToronto Maple Leafs Hire Craig Berube as 32nd Head Coach on 4-Year Deal
May 17, 2024, 09:03 PM
The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially named Craig Berube as their new head coach, making him the 32nd head coach in the franchise's history. Berube, who previously led the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup victory in 2019, is expected to be introduced at a news conference on Tuesday morning at the Ford Performance Centre. The 58-year-old coach from Calahoo, Alberta, replaces Sheldon Keefe. Berube's hiring comes after a thorough selection process that included meetings with other candidates such as Todd McLellan and Gerard Gallant. Berube's contract with the Maple Leafs is reportedly for four years. The team hopes that Berube's experience and past success can help end their 57-year Stanley Cup drought. Berube returns to Toronto more than 32 years after he played 40 games for the team in the 1991-92 season.
