VisitTokyo Governor Koike to Run for Third Term in July 7 Election Against Renho

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike has announced her intention to run for a third term in the upcoming July 7 gubernatorial election. Koike, who has been in office since 2016, will face competition from opposition lawmaker Renho, who is expected to announce her candidacy soon, according to Tokyo Shimbun reports. Renho, a member of the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP) and a long-serving Upper House Diet member, finished fourth in the 2022 House of Councillors election in the Tokyo at-large district.
