The Onion Buys Infowars with Sandy Hook Families' Backing, Plans 2025 Relaunch

The Onion, a satirical news publication owned by Global Tetrahedron, has acquired Alex Jones's Infowars at a bankruptcy auction held on November 14. Backed by some of the Sandy Hook families and Everytown for Gun Safety, the acquisition follows Jones owing $1.5 billion in defamation damages. The Onion plans to shut down Infowars and relaunch it in January 2025 as a parody of itself, mocking conspiracy theorists who spread disinformation and sell health supplements. The deal was disclosed in court documents.
