Visit'The Acolyte' Canceled After One Season; Amandla Stenberg Cites Vitriol, Costs $630K Per Minute
Aug 28, 2024, 11:07 PM
Lucasfilm's 'The Acolyte', a Star Wars series, has been canceled after just one season on Disney+. The cancellation is attributed to low viewership, with reports indicating that the series cost approximately $630,000 per minute of screentime. Despite the show's high production costs, viewership declined significantly after the first two episodes. Amandla Stenberg, one of the lead actors, expressed that the cancellation was not a surprise due to the 'rampage of vitriol' and 'hyper-conservative bigotry' directed at the show from some Star Wars fans. The show faced criticism and backlash even before its release. Lee Jung-jae was ultimately cast as Master Sol, a role initially considered for Keanu Reeves. Scheduling conflicts prevented Reeves' involvement.
