On January 13, 2025, Thailand's Cabinet approved a draft law to legalize casinos in entertainment complexes, a move aimed at enhancing tourism, creating jobs, and attracting investment. Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira confirmed that the Ministry of Finance would propose the bill despite concerns from the Council of State. The draft law, which will be introduced to Parliament for further consideration, defines ten types of entertainment businesses, including shopping malls and amusement parks.
