Thailand has identified its first suspected case of the new mpox Clade 1 strain in a foreign national who traveled from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The World Health Organization has declared this strain a global public health emergency. The patient, a European man, arrived from Africa last week, and authorities are awaiting test results to confirm the strain. Dr. Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn, Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, stated that it has not yet been definitively determined whether the individual is infected with the Clade 1b strain.
