In their first Southeastern Conference (SEC) game, the Texas Longhorns secured their first SEC win with a decisive 35-13 victory over Mississippi State. Arch Manning, making his first SEC start, delivered an impressive performance, completing 26 of 31 passes for 357 total yards and three touchdowns. Manning's notable plays included a 49-yard touchdown pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. and a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Despite Jaydon Blue's two fumbles, he contributed with a 1-yard touchdown run. Mississippi State's Michael Van Buren scored a 12-yard rushing touchdown, but it wasn't enough to challenge Texas. The Longhorns, now 5-0 for the season, held a 21-6 lead at the end of the third quarter and will next face Oklahoma in Dallas on October 12.
