VisitTesla Sells 68,280 Vehicles in China in October, Including 40,485 Locally, 27,795 Exports; 41% Increase Year-Over-Year
Nov 8, 2024, 09:21 AM
In October, Tesla sold a total of 68,280 vehicles in China, which includes 40,485 units sold locally and 27,795 exported from its Shanghai factory. This marks a 41% increase in local sales compared to the same month last year, when Tesla sold 28,626 vehicles. However, the October sales figures indicate a decline from the 46,227 units sold in July, putting Tesla 5,742 units behind its third-quarter performance. The overall new energy vehicle (NEV) market in China also showed robust growth, with retail sales reaching nearly 1.2 million units, despite a slight decrease in NEV penetration rate to 52.9% from 53.3% in September. This decline in penetration is attributed to a faster increase in gasoline vehicle sales, even as NEV sales rose 56.7% year-over-year from 878,000 in July to 1.19 million in October. The total wholesale figure for October stood at 1.37 million vehicles, with exports accounting for just 180,000 units.
