VisitTesla's Optimus Robots Automate Battery Cell Handling, Reduce Human Intervention
May 5, 2024, 11:29 AM
Tesla has recently deployed its Optimus robots in one of its factories to enhance automation in battery cell handling. Equipped with an end-to-end neural network, these robots are trained to pick up and sort battery cells from a conveyor belt into trays, operating in real-time on the bot's FSD computer. The Optimus robots are also being used in Tesla's Robotaxi Hubs for autonomous charging and cleaning tasks. The deployment of these robots has shown a significant reduction in the need for human intervention, now performing tasks with a continuously decreasing rate of human interventions. Their ability to self-correct and adapt to failure states during operations has been noted as a key advancement.
