VisitTesla's Optimus Robot Fully Autonomous in Battery Cell Sorting
May 5, 2024, 04:32 PM
Tesla has released a new video showcasing its humanoid robot, Optimus, performing the task of sorting battery cells autonomously. The robot operates using an end-to-end neural network that runs in real-time on Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) computer. This technology utilizes only 2D cameras and hand tactile/force sensors, enabling the robot to balance on its legs while the neural network controls the upper body movements. The training data for Optimus was gathered via human teleoperation, and the robot is currently being tested in a Tesla factory with a continuously decreasing rate of human intervention. Elon Musk confirmed that the operation is fully autonomous, with no human in the loop.
