VisitTesla Recalls 27,185 Cybertrucks in Fifth Recall Over Rearview Camera Delay
Oct 3, 2024, 03:42 PM
Tesla Inc. is recalling 27,185 Cybertruck vehicles in the United States due to delayed rearview camera images that may not activate immediately when shifting into reverse, potentially impairing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The issue is caused by the vehicle systems not completing shutdown orders before initiating a boot-up process. This recall affects most Cybertrucks in the U.S. and is the fifth recall for the electric pickup truck since its launch less than a year ago. Tesla identified the problem last month and released a free over-the-air software update on September 18, 2024, to resolve it. Vehicle owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by November 25, 2024.
