VisitTesla Projects FSD to Surpass Human Safety by Q2 2025 with 5x-6x Improvement
Oct 23, 2024, 09:44 PM
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is expected to be safer than human drivers by the second quarter of 2025. This projection follows a significant increase in FSD adoption, particularly after the recent CyberCab event. Musk highlighted that FSD version 13 will see a 5x to 6x improvement in miles between interventions compared to version 12.5. Tesla's internal estimates suggest that FSD will achieve full autonomy next year with the existing vehicle lineup, and the total FSD miles driven have more than quadrupled over the past year. The critical intervention rate is expected to improve, leading to longer miles between interventions.
