Tensions have escalated in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, as defense sources report that terror groups are planning attacks on police stations and posts. A significant incident occurred in the Baramulla district's Watergam area, where an exchange of fire took place between terrorists and security forces. The joint operation involved the Sopore police, the 32 Rashtriya Rifles, and the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, resulting in the death of one terrorist. Security forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting searches. This marks the first attack in the Kashmir Valley following the announcement of the elections.
