VisitTerror Attack in Jammu's Reasi District: 10 Pilgrims Killed, 33 Injured in Bus Attack

A suspected terrorist attack occurred in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on June 9, 2024. A bus carrying Hindu pilgrims from the ShivKhori cave shrine to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra was fired upon by militants, causing the driver to lose control and the bus to plunge into a gorge. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 10 pilgrims and injuries to 33 others, including children. The injured are receiving treatment at Naraina Hospital. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the injured at the hospital and stated, 'The terrorists attacked the bus, resulting in nine fatalities and 33 injuries.' Bullet shells were recovered from the scene, and a rescue operation was conducted with the help of locals, the Indian Army, and other security forces. Six individuals have been detained for questioning in connection with the attack, and search operations are ongoing. A high-level meeting was chaired by the Lieutenant Governor at the police headquarters in Jammu to address the situation.
