VisitTeoscar Hernandez, Jason Heyward Lead Dodgers' 7-Run 9th Inning Rally to Beat Rockies 11-9
Jun 19, 2024, 03:26 AM
The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off a dramatic comeback to defeat the Colorado Rockies 11-9 at Coors Field. Trailing 9-4 at the start of the ninth inning, the Dodgers scored seven runs to secure the victory. The rally began with Jason Heyward hitting a grand slam to bring the Dodgers within one run. With two outs and two strikes, Teoscar Hernandez was initially ruled to have checked his swing on a close call, much to the Rockies' dismay. On the next pitch, Hernandez hit a three-run homer to give the Dodgers the lead. Rockies RF Jake Cave and manager Bud Black protested the call. The win also marked the MLB debut victory for right-handed pitcher Michael Peterson, who spent eight years in the minor leagues. The Dodgers improved their record to 46-29 with this win.
