Temple Fires Stan Drayton After OT Win; Withers Named Interim Coach

Temple University has fired head football coach Stan Drayton after three seasons, during which the Owls compiled a 9-25 overall record and a 4-18 mark in the American Athletic Conference. The decision was announced jointly by Athletic Director Arthur Johnson and Drayton in a press release. Defensive coordinator Everett Withers has been named interim head coach for the final two games of the season. Players were informed of the coaching change during a meeting with Johnson on Sunday at 11 a.m. The dismissal comes less than 24 hours after Temple secured an overtime victory against Florida Atlantic University, winning 18-15.
