VisitTeamViewer Reports June 26 Breach by Russian Hacking Group APT29; Stock Slumps

TeamViewer, the widely used remote access tool, has reported a breach in its corporate IT environment, which occurred on June 26, 2024. The company detected an irregularity in its network and is currently investigating the incident to identify the attackers and the method of intrusion. TeamViewer has attributed the breach to APT29, also known as Midnight Blizzard, a Russian government-backed hacking group. Despite the intrusion, TeamViewer assures that there is no evidence that the threat actor gained access to its product environment or customer data. The company has promised transparency with updates regarding the situation. The NCC Group confirmed the involvement of APT29, and TeamViewer's breach notification page was noindexed/nofollowed. TeamViewer's stock slumped following the disclosure.
