The International Brotherhood of Teamsters has decided not to endorse any candidate in the 2024 U.S. Presidential election, marking the first time the union has remained neutral since 1996. This decision comes after a meeting between Vice President Kamala Harris and Teamsters leadership, including President Sean O'Brien, where neither candidate was able to secure the union's commitment. Internal polling showed that a significant portion of Teamsters members favored former President Donald Trump over Harris, with Trump leading by substantial margins, including a 59.6%-34.0% lead in one poll and 60% of members preferring Trump. The union's decision is seen as a blow to the Democratic campaign, which has historically relied on labor union endorsements.
