Tampa General Hospital's AquaFence successfully protected the facility from the storm surge caused by Hurricane Helene. Located on Davis Island in Tampa Bay, an area vulnerable to storm surges, the hospital installed a temporary water-impermeable barrier capable of withstanding up to 15 feet of storm surge. The barrier remained strong throughout the hurricane, preventing floodwaters from impacting hospital operations and allowing the facility to maintain services during the storm. The hospital confirmed that the barrier is holding strong against the storm's forces. The AquaFence has also proven effective in multiple previous storm events.
