Sep 11, 2024, 09:20 AM
The Taliban have declared a public holiday in Herat province for the opening ceremony of the TAPI gas pipeline project. The ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, 2024. The TAPI project, which was originally inaugurated in March 2018 under the former president, is a significant venture linking Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the interim Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, arrived in Herat leading a high-level delegation to inaugurate the project. The Taliban-run Ministry of Labor announced the holiday. The pipeline is part of a $10 billion initiative that traverses four countries in South Asia, marking the official commencement of work on the project.
