VisitTaliban Bans Afghan Women from Hearing Each Other's Voices, Praying Loudly, and Reciting Quran
Oct 30, 2024, 12:21 PM
The Taliban has introduced a new rule prohibiting Afghan women from hearing each other's voices, further restricting women's rights in Afghanistan. This latest decree, announced by the Taliban's Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, classifies a woman's voice as 'awrah,' meaning it should be concealed and not heard in public. Women are also forbidden from praying loudly or reciting the Quran in front of other women. This follows previous bans on women attending school, university, and public speaking. Amnesty International has called for the immediate revocation of all restrictions on women's rights in the country.
