Taiwan to Recognize Cross-Strait Same-Sex Marriages Involving Chinese Nationals

Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council announced that Taiwanese nationals and their same-sex partners from China, Hong Kong, and Macau can now register their marriages in Taiwan, provided they first marry in a third country. Taipei said Thursday that this marks the first time cross-strait same-sex unions are legally recognized. The move is expected to benefit hundreds of couples in the democratically run archipelago.
