Syrian Man Arrested in Essen After Attacks Injure 31, Including Children

On Saturday evening, a 41-year-old Syrian man was arrested in Essen, Germany, after allegedly setting fires to multiple residential buildings and attacking people with a machete. He injured 31 people, including 8 children, with two children in critical condition. The suspect, who wore a Palestinian flag scarf and a keffiyeh, also crashed his van into shops. Locals detained him until police arrived. The motives for the attacks remain unclear.
