Switzerland Proposes Bitcoin in Constitution, Urges National Bank to Buy for Reserves

Switzerland is moving forward with a proposal to include Bitcoin in its national constitution, marking a significant step towards recognizing the cryptocurrency officially. The initiative, known as the 'Bitcoin Initiative,' has been registered by the Swiss Chancellery and is now open for signatures in the Federal Gazette, also known as the Feuille fédérale. The proposal not only seeks to enshrine Bitcoin in the constitution but also urges the Swiss National Bank to start purchasing Bitcoin for the country's national reserves. The initiative is backed by notable figures such as Yves Bennaïm of 2B4CH and Luzius Meisser of Bitcoin Suisse.
