VisitSwiss Bitcoin Advocates Push for SNB to Include Bitcoin, Need 100K Signatures
Apr 23, 2024, 09:00 AM
In Switzerland, a group of Bitcoin advocates is spearheading a campaign to amend the Swiss constitution to enable the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to include Bitcoin in its reserves. The proposed amendment seeks to add 'and Bitcoin' to the existing requirement for the SNB to hold part of its reserves in gold. The initiative, led by Yves Bennaïm and his nonprofit 2B4CH, aims to enhance Swiss sovereignty and neutrality by diversifying the national reserves. The campaign requires over 100,000 signatures to trigger a referendum.
