VisitSweden Authorizes Ukraine to Use Swedish Weapons Against Russia, Says Pål Jonson
May 26, 2024, 04:12 PM
Sweden has authorized Ukraine to use Swedish-supplied weapons against targets in Russia. This decision was confirmed by Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson, who emphasized that Ukraine is facing an unprovoked and illegal war of aggression by Russia and has the right under international law to defend itself. The Swedish government is also encouraging other allies to allow similar measures. Among the weapons delivered by Sweden are the Archer self-propelled guns, MANPADS RBS-70, and CV 90 IFV, with the Archer having a range of 30 to 60km. This move aligns with Article 51 of the UN Charter, which grants nations the right to self-defense, as reported by Hallandsposten.
