VisitSuspected Prohibited Item Prompts Evacuation of Gatwick South Terminal; Bomb Disposal Team Deployed
Nov 22, 2024, 11:35 AM
London's Gatwick Airport has evacuated a large part of its South Terminal as a precaution while investigating a security incident involving a suspected prohibited item found in luggage at around 8:20 am on Friday. Sussex Police have deployed an explosive ordnance disposal team to the scene, and a security cordon has been established. Flights have been suspended, and trains are unable to stop at the airport, with the airport's train station closed. Passengers and staff have been evacuated from affected areas, but the North Terminal remains unaffected. The airport stated that the safety of the public, staff, and other airport users is their top priority, and the incident is ongoing.
