VisitSupreme Court to Hear PIL on Hathras Stampede Incident with 121 Deaths on July 12

The Supreme Court of India has scheduled a hearing for a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding the Hathras stampede incident, which resulted in the deaths of 121 people. Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, confirmed the listing of the case for judicial hearing on July 9. The hearing is expected to take place on July 12. Advocate Vishal Tiwari, who filed the petition, has called for the appointment of an expert committee, led by a retired Supreme Court justice, to investigate the incident. The urgency of the matter was acknowledged by the Supreme Court, which allowed the plea for an urgent listing.
