Jul 19, 2024, 05:41 AM
The Supreme Court of India has scheduled a hearing on July 22 to address a series of petitions calling for a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged quid pro quo arrangements between corporations and political parties facilitated through the Electoral Bonds (EBs) scheme. The petitions demand a court-monitored investigation into potential corruption, kickbacks, and other malpractices linked to the scheme. The Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud, confirmed the listing of the petitions, which also seek the disclosure of details related to the electoral bonds. The scheme was previously scrapped by the top court on February 15.
