VisitSupreme Court Rejects X Corp's Appeal Over Jack Smith's Secret Trump Twitter Warrant
Oct 7, 2024, 02:36 PM
The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal by Elon Musk's X Corp., formerly known as Twitter, challenging a judicial order that barred the company from informing former President Donald Trump about a secret search warrant for his social media account. The search warrant was obtained by Special Counsel Jack Smith as part of an investigation and included a nondisclosure order preventing X Corp. from notifying Trump about the warrant. X Corp. argued that the nondisclosure order violated the First Amendment, but lower courts upheld the order. The Supreme Court turned away the appeal without providing any explanation, leaving intact the previous rulings that allowed the Department of Justice to obtain records from Trump's Twitter account without notifying him.
