VisitSupreme Court Orders Himachal Pradesh to Release 137 Cusecs of Water to Alleviate Delhi's Crisis Amid Haryana Blockade
Jun 10, 2024, 05:06 AM
The Supreme Court has directed the Himachal Pradesh government to release 137 cusecs of surplus water to alleviate Delhi's severe water shortage. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized the BJP government in Haryana for obstructing the flow of water, which includes blocking 137 cusecs from Himachal Pradesh and reducing another 200 cusecs from a channel supplying 1050 cusecs to Delhi. AAP National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP of negative politics, highlighting the impact on the Yamuna River. AAP leaders have urged the Lieutenant Governor to speak to the Haryana government to resolve the issue, as Delhi's seven water treatment plants are dependent on the Munak Canal for water.
