VisitSupreme Court Defers Hearing on Arvind Kejriwal's Bail to June 26
Jun 24, 2024, 06:53 AM
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's bail has been put on hold by the Delhi High Court in connection with an alleged excise policy scam. The trial court had initially granted him bail, but the Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenged this decision. Kejriwal has now moved the Supreme Court against the High Court's interim stay on his bail order. The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing to June 26, stating that it will wait for the High Court's final order. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Kejriwal, questioned the High Court's decision to stay the bail. The case has garnered significant attention due to the high bar set by the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) for granting bail. Kejriwal's lawyers had appealed for an urgent hearing on June 24 before the vacation bench.
