VisitSupreme Court Clears GMR to Upgrade Nagpur's Ambedkar Airport as Petitions Withdrawn
Sep 27, 2024, 08:29 AM
On September 27, 2024, the Supreme Court of India dismissed a curative petition by the central government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) that sought a review of its 2022 decision allowing GMR Group to operate and manage Nagpur's Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. The central government and AAI withdrew their curative petitions, clearing the way for GMR to proceed with the construction and upgrade of a world-class international brownfield airport at Nagpur, including an international cargo airport with two runways. This project, previously planned and contracted, is expected to power the real take-off of MIHAN (Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur), enhancing infrastructure in Nagpur and Maharashtra.
