VisitSudan's Army Launches Major Offensive with Air Strikes and Shelling in Khartoum Against RSF
Sep 26, 2024, 10:07 AM
Sudan's army has launched a major offensive against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital, Khartoum. The operation, which began early Thursday morning, marks the largest military push in nearly four months. Heavy artillery and air strikes have been reported across central, northern, and southern Khartoum, with significant battles taking place around key military sites such as Al-Mogran, the army's general headquarters, Signal Corps, and Armored units. The army has taken control of the eastern side of the Nile bridge connecting Omdurman to Khartoum and captured Mc Nimir bridge, which links Bahri and Khartoum. The RSF has reportedly withdrawn some forces from Omdurman to reinforce positions in Khartoum, potentially shifting the balance of power. The army has also advanced into Alsouq Alarabi, considered the heart of Khartoum. Eyewitnesses reported intense air strikes and shelling throughout the capital.
