The incident involved a train carrying toxic chemicals that crashed in northeastern Ohio, leading officials to burn off the hazardous materials, which created a large black cloud over Ohio and Pennsylvania. The pollution has since affected a third of the country, including states as far as New York, impacting 14% of the U.S. population, data shows.
