VisitStudio Ghibli Makes History with Honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes #Cannes2024
May 20, 2024, 01:28 PM
Japanese animation powerhouse Studio Ghibli made history by receiving an Honorary Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival #Cannes2024. The award was presented to Gorō Miyazaki, who received a standing ovation as he entered the Grand Lumiere. This marks the first time a studio has been given this prestigious honor. The screening event included the showing of three short films that have never been shown outside of Japan, which are typically only available at the Studio Ghibli museum. The event is part of the lead-up to the studio's recognition at Cannes. Hayao Miyazaki's film 'The Heron' was also highlighted as a significant work, praised for its intimate and detailed storytelling. The Honorary Palme d’Or was presented by FilmBayona.
