Just Stop Oil Activists Found Guilty of Criminal Damage for £72.5 Million Van Gogh Sunflowers Soup Attack

Two Just Stop Oil activists, Anna Holland and Phoebe Plummer, both 22, have been found guilty of criminal damage at Southwark Crown Court. The activists threw Heinz tomato soup over Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers masterpiece in 2022 at the National Gallery. The court heard that the soup acted like a corrosive, damaging the painting’s 17th Century Italian frame. The incident risked causing serious damage to the £72.5 million artwork. The judge presiding over the case is Judge Hehir, who recently sentenced the Whole Truth Five to 4-5 years in prison.
