VisitStellantis to Invest 2 Billion Euros in Italy in 2025, Supported by Government Funding
Dec 17, 2024, 02:57 PM
Stellantis has committed to a significant investment plan in Italy, pledging to manufacture new models and invest 2 billion euros in the country in 2025, alongside 6 billion euros in purchases from Italian suppliers. This move comes after tensions with the Italian government and unions over previous production cuts. The Italian government, led by Minister Adolfo Urso, has allocated over 1 billion euros for the automotive sector in 2025 to support the transition. The plan includes the production of new mass market models and the installation of the Stla Small platform in Pomigliano starting in 2028. The production of the Panda will be extended until 2030, and the new 500 will be produced at Mirafiori. Stellantis aims to keep all Italian plants active, with Modena becoming a hub for high-end vehicles, and production capacity expected to grow from 2026. The Cassino plant will host the new Stla Large platform, and Atessa will produce a new version of the Large Van. The government has asked Stellantis for commitments on investments, employment, and the enhancement of research centers.
