VisitStarbucks Closes NYC Astor Place Location After 30 Years Due to Rent Hike
Jul 29, 2024, 11:19 AM
After nearly 30 years, Starbucks has closed its Astor Place location in New York City. The closure, which took place last night, was attributed to a significant rent increase imposed by the landlord. The Astor Place Starbucks, which occupied a 4,000-square-foot space since March 1995, had its signage removed following the closure. Management cited the rent hike as the primary reason for the shutdown, noting that even corporate Starbucks could not afford the new rates. This location was also notable for being a unionized store.
